School Trips

Adolescents need to understand the relevance of what they are learning, and are motivated by active engagement. Sophia students participate in curricular field trips throughout the year to local museums, companies, and outdoor venues. In addition, there are several overnight trips that are traditions at Sophia.

The Farm School: Fifth and sixth graders spend three days and two nights living on this working farm in western Massachusetts.

Civil Rights Trip: The culminating event of the Sophia experience is a four day, three night trip to Alabama to tour the cradle of the civil rights movement and meet with activists and scholars to learn firsthand about this important moment in U.S. history.

Mount Monadnock: In a symbolic climb, the eighth grade climbs this storied mountain every year and basks in the glow of the accomplishment afterward.
